Target Mark Downs

So my hubby and I took a couponing class a couple of years ago and the guy who was teaching it told us about a markdown schedule. So I got on tonight and searched for it. We had been trying to remember it forever because it is a handy tool to have. Now this is a generalized schedule and from what I can find Super Targets stick to it more so than a normal Target. But again it is generalized so each store may be a little behind. So I found this over at Slave to Target. This is the general markdown schedule.
http://www.savingfreak.com/deals/target-the-clearance-king/The mark down schedule for Target goes like this:

Monday--kids clothing, infants dept. and electronics (maybe food also)

Tuesday--women's clothing (maybe food also)

Wednesday--men's clothing,garden, health and beauty

Thursday--lingerie, shoes, house wares, sporting goods, luggage, toys

Friday--cosmetics, hardware, auto, domestics, home improvement and jewelry

I also read this over at www.moneysavingqueen.com:
Markdowns are as follows: 1st time they mark down is 30%, 2nd time is 1/2 off original price and the 3rd time is 75% off. Target also says they mark down "every 2 to 3 weeks" when corporate sends them the notice.

Now the seasonal items follow a differnt markdown plan. Again this generalized but a great outline. The blog says that holidays follow a 3-3-2 schedule. I found this info at Vickys Deals.

The first 3 days after the holiday are 50% off.
The next 3 days are 75% off.
The next 2 days are 90%.
After that it goes to salvage.

Since 4th of July is on the same date every year this is the markdown schedule she has found is used:
July 5 = 50% off
July 8 = 75% off
July 10 = 90% off

Halloween same thing, always on the 31st so here is what she has listed:
Nov 1st = 50% off
Nov 4th = 75% off
Nov 7th = 90% off

Apparently Christmas doesn't follow this schedule but the blog says to check the prices frequently but I personally have found that the schedule is similiar.

Sorry, not a very interesting blog post but it is useful or at least I think so. Also a useful bit of info is to ALWAYS check the price because it may not be physically marked down yet but it should change in the system. They try to have them marked down by noon but it will depend on # of employees and of course daily schedules. Hope this is useful, Enjoy!
